Man in intensive care following assault

A man is fighting for life after he was robbed and knocked unconscious in an unprovoked attack at Wilmott on Saturday morning.

A man, 56,  was walking along Discovery Avenue towards Captain Cook Drive at around 4am when he saw two men standing outside a school.

As the man walked past them, one of the men punched him in the head several times, knocking him to the ground.

The man’s phone was stolen.

Two friends of the victim found him unconscious on Discovery Drive a short time later and contacted emergency services.

The man sustained head injuries, spinal injuries, facial fractures, and a suspected broken arm.

He was taken to Nepean Hospital, before being transferred to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in intensive care.

Mount Druitt Police have appealed  for anyone with information to come forward.

Both men have been described only as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance.
