IT looks like a scene from a movie or a crime TV show.

But the pictures taken of a drug laboratory aren't from a movie set.

Drug squad detectives have released real-life footage from inside a clandestine laboratory in St Marys last year to appeal for assistance from the public.

Fire and Rescue NSW were called to an industrial unit in Severn Street on Sunday, July 28, 2013 after witnesses reported seeing smoke coming from the building.

A clandestine laboratory was located inside the premises, and specialist staff from the drug squad's chemical operations team were called out to examine and process the site.

The squad formed Strike Force Archbold to investigate the matter.

On Monday, August 25, detectives attended a government facility in Silverwater where they arrested and charged a man, 39, withmanufacturing a large commercial quantity of drugs.

He appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday and was refused bail to reappear on September 5.

Inquiries are ongoing and detectives hope to make more arrests.

Police have released footage of the chemical operations team processing the clandestine laboratory in July 2013, as well as a closed-circuit television still of a dark-coloured Toyota Hilux ute which was regularly seen at the St Marys unit during 2013.

Anyone with information that may assist detectives is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Information can be provided anonymously and will be treated in the strictest confidence.
