Cameron Adams clutches his two sons tightly and casts his eye over their new home.
The modest brick-veneer-and-tile home, near the border of Hillvue and Calala, symbolises hope and a fresh start for the grieving father, who lost his wife Tiffany to cancer in June.
It also marks the realisation of Tiffany's dying wish for her husband to buy a house and help secure the future of their two sons, Caleb, 3, and Charlie, 1.
More than $22,000 has been raised in a remarkable two-month community appeal, allowing Mr Adams to make a deposit on the home.
"The offer we've made on the house has been accepted and we just need the final paperwork to be done before we move in," an emotional Mr Adams said yesterday.
"It's all just so overwhelming.
"The amount this community has done and continues to do is amazing.
"Tiffany would be so happy, she'd be over the moon."
Among the hundreds of donations from ordinary locals, a host of fundraising events, including a high tea, a charity leg wax, a flash mob, a $5000 donation from Wests Leagues and two upcoming golf days, have helped the appeal exceed the $20,000 target.
Tamworth Leagues Club general manager Rod Laing said the club was "delighted" to see the appeal reach its target.
"I'm absolutely delighted," Mr Laing said.
"The Tamworth community has a long history of rallying around people in need and they've done it again."
