Kurrajong resident Lyndal Keen has recently completed a landscape and design course at Richmond TAFE with unexpected results.
Not only did she graduate with distinctions but Lyndal also received many awards to compliment her on her hard work.
The industry-based course ran full-time for two years and Lyndal attended three days a week.
With the course aimed at helping students succeed in their future jobs, they were presented with real clients, mostly non-for-profit organisations.
Lyndal said the course was very beneficial but also challenging.
‘‘We completed designs for the clients but it was really challenging trying to meet the requirements and also stick to the budget,’’ she said.
Lyndal graduated at the top of her class as well as receiving several other awards.
She was awarded the 2013 Top Horticulture Student, Academic Excellence Award for Student Of The Year, and Western Sydney Vocational Student of the Year 2014.
Lyndal said how greatful and appreciative she was to have received the awards.
‘‘It is fantastic to receive recognition for my hard work’’ she said.
‘‘It has given me the confidence to start my own business’’.
Lyndal started a certificate in training and assessment on August 27 and will do more horticultural training.
