5 Seconds of Summer have taken home a MTV VMA Award on Monday morning, August 25.
The band of four, Ashton, Michael, Luke and Calum, won the award for ‘Best Lyric Video’ for their track Don’t Stop before the awards night begun on Monday morning, Sydney time.
The boys posted on their Facebook page that they couldn’t believe they had won the MTV award.
The band were also up for the 'Artist to Watch' award but missed out on the winning.
"That's a big upset. 5SOS pipped at the post. Their fans will be breaking Twitter about now. Best to avoid it for a year or so," the Sydney Morning Herald posted when the results went live.
The band were up against Charli xcx, Sam Smith, Schoolboy q and Fifth Harmony for the award.
5SOS, as they are known to their world-wide fans, also performed their hit song Anmesia at the awards night which had popstars Taylor Swift, Lorde and Demi Lovato bobbing around in their seats.
