Country singer James Stewart Keene releases his debut album The Navigator at Riverstone Schofields Memorial Club on Saturday night, August 23.
The album launch is a free concert and starts at 9pm.
Stewart told the Gazette he chose the memorial club to show that country music is coming back to the Hawkesbury district.
‘‘Riverstone Schofields Memorial Club is a mecca for music, a great venue and very supportive of country rock music,’’ he said.
‘‘It was a natural choice releasing it there given that the Hawkesbury region is the home of Sydney’s country music.’’
The Wollongong-based artist said he was excited to show off all of his hard work to those taking the time out to come and watch him.
‘‘A lot of work goes into making an album,’’ he said.
‘‘It took 15 months of hard work to produce, so to publicly launch it is special.’’
Earlier this year his single, Bottom Of The Barrel, made the Australian Country Tracks Top 30 chart for four weeks.
Stewart said he promised to deliver an energetic performance packed with catchy tunes from his rocking country album, as well as a couple from his favourite country rock artists.
‘‘My songs are a mixed bag, but I write about love a lot, and good times,’’ he said.
‘‘Even though I am inspired by personal experiences, it is important as a songwriter to sometimes write about other things,’’ he said.
Stewart said he had been influenced by The Eagles, Neil Young and Keith Urban.
