Cherrybrook Senior Athletics runner Michelle Jenneke came fifth in the women's 100-metre hurdles at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

She qualified out of the heats with the equal fifth-fastest time and matched that placing with a strong run in the finals against the faster field.

Jenneke's time of 13.36 seconds at Hampden Park was a little more than three tenths of a second outside the bronze medal position.

A fast start had her even with the front-runners early but she wasn't able to accelerate away in the back half of the race.

She joined Australian's Sally Pearson and Shannon McCann in the final.
