Panthers feel major pain

PENRITH will need to overcome a mounting injury toll if they want to be a factor in the finals this year.

Keeping their top four dreams alive with a 22-16 win against the Canterbury Bulldogs, the Panthers came at cost.

Elijah Taylor (knee), Brent Kite (pectoral) and boom rookie Bryce Cartwright (syndesmosis) have potentially season ending injuries.

The trio join Peter Wallace and Tyrone Peachey on the sidelines on the run to the finals for the third placed Panthers.

"It's a pretty big ward. We seem to be losing a few guys high up in the rankings. Both (Taylor and Kite) are leaders in their own right. ET has been phenomenal this year for us," coach Ivan Cleary said.

This week the Panthers travel to Wollongong to take on the St George Illawarra, followed by games against Cowboys, Storm, Sea Eagles and Warriors to round out the year.
