One of Hawkesbury’s largest annual family fun days will be held at St Monica’s Primary School in Richmond this Saturday August, 2.
With more than 20,000 people anticipated to attend, the fete has been in operation since 1894 and is growing in numbers each year.
The extremely popular event has a professional program of entertainment lined up for the whole family to get involved in.
The day will offer plenty of entertaining performances such as singing and dancing from both students and professionals.
Carnival rides are guaranteed to have the children immersed in the fun of it all for hours while parents take advantage of the food stands, art displays and the district’s largest second-hand book stall in the old church hall.
Not only will the hall have a monster book sale, it’ll also have trash and treasures at the white elephant stall and plants, cakes, gift baskets, Devonshire teas, jewellery, pottery and a range of delicious foods to choose from.
There will be plenty of prizes to be won, all generously donated by local businesses, supporters, parishioners and families to keep the popular fete running.
The chocolate wheel, back by popular demand, will be spinning all day with more than 100 prizes up for grabs.
Initially held in the Richmond School of Arts, the fete eventually moved to the grounds of St Monica’s where it has been held ever since.
With hopes to raise as much money as possible this year, the fete will grow to be bigger and better for many years to come.
Gates are open to all and chances are good you’ll see plenty of people you know to make it a fun social day as well.
Money raised is collected to support the ministries of the Catholic Parish of Richmond as well as the technological education of students at St Monica’s.
