Three Hawkesbury athletes have competed in this year's Commonwealth Games - Daniel Lewis (boxing), Ian Dewhurst (athletics) and Shane Parker (freestyle wrestling).
400m hurdler, Dewhurst, recorded a time of 50.45 seconds on Tuesday night, July 29 in a heat two event.
Dewhurst's time placed him 4th in his heat.
The finals for the 400m men's hurdles are tonight, Thursday July 31.
Parker competed on Tuesday night in the 57kg freestyle wrestling quarter final against Pakistan, but lost his fight.
But for Londonderry resident Lewis, it was injury that stopped him going onto the next round.
Lewis received a cut to his eye-lid in his fight against Nigeria on Monday night.
Doctors told Lewis on Wednesday that his campaign toward the gold medal was over.
"We'll that's my journey over. Got up at 6am this morning to lose weight I made it and was ready to go to war only to be told by the doctor my journey is over," Lewis posted on social media.
"They won't let me fight with the cut. I had two fights, two comfortable wins with one TKO.
"For all these people debating about head gear for amateurs, bring the head gear back 100% when you have to fight five times in a week this shit ruins people’s dreams," he posted.
But Lewis has kept a positive outlook on the future, saying he plans on training hard to get himself to the Olympic Games in 2016.
