Choirs, bands and dance ensembles from 10 schools are showcasing their talents over three days at Richmond Marketplace this week, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Education Week.
The event kicked off yesterday with routines from Richmond, Bilpin, Comleroy Road and Grose View public schools. It continues today from 10am with acts from Kurrajong and Hobartville, and tomorrow with Kurmond, Kurrajong North, Glossodia and Richmond High.
Gary Ruzgas, principal of Richmond Public School and showcase co-ordinator, said it will help promote both public education and our schools.
“It’s great for the kids to perform,’’ he told the Gazette. ‘‘We always have a massive turnout from mums, dads, grandparents and friends – even past school students come back to show their support.
“Richmond Marketplace is a central meeting point for most people and the ideal place for us to show some of the great things happening in and outside of the classroom. They’ve also donated $1000 to help the kids get to the event.’’
A separate showcase is also being held at Windsor Riverview this week.
