Dancers from South Windsor’s Off Centre Dance Co. will travel to Los Angeles next year to develop their skills in some leading US dance schools.
All 25 students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in live shows at Universal Studios, Disneyland and Hollywood Boulevard.
Ryan Newall, founder and director, said Off Centre had always tried to develop their students’ skills to the best of their ability.
‘‘I am so proud they have achieved so much and I’d love to watch them grow and be successful,’’ Mr Newall said.
Their trip includes workshops with international choreographers including the dance team from Disney and The Edge Performing Arts Studio, along with performances showcasing their talents.
Jycinda Noyes has been with the studio for five years and said this was a dream come true for her.
The 19-year-old Kurrajong resident said the trip will help her develop skills that will further her dancing career.
‘‘I’m looking forward to performing in the parade at Disneyland, it’s going to be an experience I will never forget,’’ she said.
The passionate dancers have had many guest choreographers visit the studio including Marko Panzic and Chloe Lukasiak from the American dance reality show Dance Moms.
Leaving on April 5 for a 10-day tour, the students have formed Friends of OCDC to work on fundraising projects to cover the educational costs of the trip over the next nine months.
‘‘If you feel that you can contribute to anything we are doing then don’t hesitate to contact us via email at fundraising@ offcentredanceco.com.au,’’ Ms Noyes said.
