Glenwood teens want what Billy Harrison (pictured) has — a skateboard park.

His is Bar Beach Skate Bowl in Victoria.

Eleven months ago Glenwood teens thought they were on their way to getting a park too, after pleading for one on Glenwood Community Association’s (GCA) Facebook page.

But association president Bob McKay said they still don’t know if Blacktown Council will deliver.

‘‘A lot of the kids think the GCA has failed them because the council hasn’t given them a skate park,’’ he said.

A council spokeswoman said council resolved on June 26, 2013, to list the design and construction of four new youth recreation facilities in its works improvement program for future funding consideration, in the amount of $500,000 for three facilities and $2million for a skate park extension to Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope.

Mr McKay said GCA’s preference was for a skate park in Glenwood Reserve and his volunteers would even lock it during school hours and at night, ‘‘so there wouldn’t be any temptation for truancy or for people to skate around there at midnight and it be a magnet for kids congregating’’.

In July 2013, GCA conducted a postal ballot giving its 130 members a chance to anonymously vote for or against a resolution authorising the committee to lobby the council for a skate park. The majority ruled yes.

‘‘Through our Facebook page we were inundated with about 300 requests from teenagers — who make up the largest demographic in Glenwood — who said you wouldn’t have to remove graffiti if you gave us something to do,’’ then president Chris Winslow said.
