A CAT that has been missing for seven years from Sans Souci was reunited with its owner after being found in Windsor last week.
The microchipped cat, Buster, had been missing since 2007. He belongs to the Farasopoulos family who live more than 70 kilometres away in Sans Souci.
Owner Kevin Farasopoulos said it was a big surprise to the whole family.
‘‘Buster is settling in well and is reunited with his son Apollo and our maltese terrier,’’ Mr Farasopoulos said.
Buster was taken to Macquarie Vet Clinic in Windsor by Kurrajong residents Steve and Louise Chillmaid to check if it was their cat Maggie who has been missing for more than a year.
‘‘A lady from Windsor thought that our cat may have been living near her house so she called us to come check if it was Maggie. It turns out that it wasn’t Maggie but we took the stray cat to the vet to get it scanned anyway. I just wonder how he got from Sans Souci to Windsor,’’ Mr Chillmaid said.
Vet Kay Bajwa contacted the owner and said they had arrived within two hours of the phone call.
‘‘They were so excited to see him and this goes to show the importance of microchipping your pets, or else they’re lost forever,’’ Dr Bajwa said.
The Chillmaid family is still on the lookout for Maggie and have set up a Facebook page called Help find Maggie.
