Woman injured in failed armed robbery, Blacktown

A woman was injured during an attempted armed robbery in Blacktown on Friday.

Two men armed with a knife entered the shop in Kildare Road at about 7.30pm.

Police have been told the men threatened the woman, who works at the store.

She pushed them away and a man, who also works there, hit the men with a sign.

In the struggle the man had his jacket slashed with the knife, but was not injured.

The woman fell to the floor and injured her arm and face, but was not hurt by the knife.

She was taken to Blacktown Hospital.

The men fled empty-handed and were last seen running along Meroo Avenue.

They were both wearing hooded jumpers.
