Australian cricket fans will get to see England do battle with India this winter after all, with Fox Sports signing a last-minute deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The end of the blackout means Australians can watch the five-Test series between Alastair Cook's struggling team and MS Dhoni's India starting at Trent Bridge from July 9.
The series could determine the future of Cook's captaincy, which hangs in the balance after the Ashes whitewash and a home series loss to Sri Lanka, although the English can take some heart from India's uninspiring record on the road.
England selectors have recalled feisty allrounder Ben Stokes, one of the few success stories from the Ashes summer, for the India series. Stokes hadn't played enough first class cricket to command selection for the Sri Lanka Tests, having broken his hand when he punched a locker in the West Indies.
India will tour Australia for four Tests next summer, having lost all eight away Tests when it last completed the England-Australia double in 2011-12.
Australian cricket lovers vented their frustration at not being able to watch Sri Lanka's tour of England, with many threatening to cancel their pay TV subscriptions, but Fox Sports has picked up the rights for the rest of the English summer at the 11th hour.
"Cricket fans in Australia have been asking for television coverage of this tour. We are thrilled to deliver the masses of passionate English and Indian cricket fanatics Down Under exclusive coverage of the highly anticipated upcoming full English tour," said Fox Sports chief executive Patrick Delany.
"The addition of the next two tours in England rounds out Fox Sports' extensive schedule of international cricket over the next 12 months, including every game live of the 2015 Cricket World Cup."
There was no mention of Australia's imminent tours of Zimbabwe or the United Arab Emirates, but Fox Sports is believed to be in negotiations for those series.
