The low percentage of male teachers who currently work in western Sydney schools was released to the public last week, spiking concern about the future of teaching.
The figures showed that male teachers make up less than 17 per cent of teachers in primary schools within western Sydney – making it the lowest percentage to date.
Shadow minister for Education Ryan Park said many students in western Sydney aren’t taught by a male teacher until they reach high school.
