Family needs help following tragedy

IT was just like any other day.

Jason "Chowie" Puchowski said goodbye to his family and headed off to work.

Sadly, he would not make it home.

After riding his bike to Rooty Hill to catch the train to work, he crossed over the station to use an ATM. As he reached it he suffered a heart attack and died at the scene.

He was only 37.

He leaves behind his wife and three children: Caleb, 17, Amie, 15, and Rosa, 3.

Chowie grew up in Rooty Hill and raised his children in the area.

He also spent a big part of his life with the Michinbury Jets soccer team, coaching the under-9s.

In his memory, a trivia night is being held at Rooty Hill RSL on Saturday, August 2, to raise money to support his family.

As Chowie was the sole income earner for the family, they are now struggling to make ends meet in paying for groceries and rent.

The trivia night will be attended by football greats Nathan Hindmarsh, Nathan Cayless and Mario Fenech.

It is hoped more than 300 people will attend.

Local businesses are encouraged to donate prizes for the raffle and auction on the night.
