Students from Kurrajong North Public School were all smiles after they took out all their categories at this year’s Hawkesbury Show.
The 10 students from Year 6 were involved in the cake decorating class and took out first, second and a highly commended for the third year in a row in the Junior Cooking section.
Parent, class organiser and cake decorator, Lucy Baranowski said she was extremely proud of all of her students and all their hard work they had put into their cupcakes over the last few months.
‘‘They all are so proud of themselves that it also makes me proud of them,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s good for the kids to see that cake decorating is not just a fun hobby for old people.’’
The students at the school have been involved in the cake decorating classes that are held by Ms Baranowski for the past three years.
She said that during the three years of hosting her classes, each year more students had joined in for the fun and learning.
‘‘The children love learning about the types of icings and sugars needed to successfully decorate a ‘delish’ cupcake,’’ she said.
‘‘This year was great, it was fabulous to bring together fellow parents, and students to work on this project together. Our school may be small but we are supported by one of the greatest school communities ever.
‘‘The children love to attend the Hawkesbury Show with their families to see their work on display, and it also builds a great camaraderie among the kids, encouraging each other and helping each other with some really great design ideas.’’
