Blacktown woman charged over terrorism hoax

A Blacktown woman has been charged after she allegedly told authorities she  overheard a terrorist threat to an international aircraft in Sydney earlier this year.

The woman, 30, supplied information to police on March 21 alleging she overheard a conversation at Sydney International Airport in which three people discussed committing an act of terrorism.

An immediate assessment of the threat was made by several agencies and it was deemed to be a hoax.

Following a thorough investigation by the joint counter terrorism team, numerous inquiries were conducted to eventually locate the woman,  who was arrested at Wentworthville on June 1 and charged with supplying false information.

She was refused bail on Monday and will reappear at Central Local Court on Thursday (June 5).
