Police are warning parents after a man followed a child on her way to school in Mount Druitt on Thursday.

The 11-year-old girl was walking over the bridge at Mt Druitt station near Beames Avenue shortly after 9.30am.

She noticed a man was following her and started to run. He continued following her until she arrived at school.

The man was described as of Caucasian appearance, 30 to 40 years old and of medium build. He was 170 centimetres tall, with a tanned complexion and wearing a black hooded-jumper, a black hat and light blue shorts.

Police encourage parents to discuss the Safe People, Safe Places messages with their children.

Kids should ensure their parents or another adult they know knows where they are at all times.
