Vineyard show marks Mustang's 50th anniversary

A 50th birthday is always something special  — even more so when it’s a car’s.

The Mustang has been one of the most successful automobiles ever produced and it's showing no sign of slowing down.

The Mustang Owners Club of Australia, NSW Branch is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Mustang with a gathering representing nearly every model manufactured from one of the first 1964 models to the latest retro-styled sports car.

The Vineyard Hotel on the corner of Windsor and Boundary roads, Vineyard, has hosted the anniversary celebrations since the 30th birthday in 1994.

This year's is on Sunday, May 18.

Mustang club NSW president David Livian said: "The Vineyard Hotel, previously known as the Tourmaline Hotel, has been an excellent venue for this event for many years.

"With their support, and sponsors such a Shannons Insurance, we can put on a display of over 100 Mustangs with a real party atmosphere.

"There will be a jumping castle, bungee run and music, as well as a many trophies chosen by the manager on the day.

"It's a family-oriented club and the public are welcome. Naturally for the 50th there will be a special cake, so come and enjoy."

■ All Mustangs are welcome and entry is free. The first 100 Mustang drivers will receive a voucher towards lunch at  Billy’s Bistro in the hotel. Gates open at 9am with the presentation at 3pm.
