THE North St Marys-raised former dancer turned actor and recording artist is ready for the next stage of his career with plans to move to Los Angeles.

After two years as an MTV VJ, Lonsdale's last job was to recently interview Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton for their new film The Other Woman.

Lonsdale, 22, juggled the job with three series of ABC kids' drama Dance Academy.

"I was ready to say goodbye to an amazing experience and move on to the next chapter," he said.

"Doing a million things at once is when I'm happiest. Being on MTV and working as an actor was something I dreamed of doing but thought it would never happen. It's been a whirlwind experience."

Lonsdale travelled to New York thee times last year to work as a recording artist.

He has more than 19,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel.

His latest song One And Only has been played on radio station The Edge 96.1 and will soon be available on iTunes.

"I still dance, just not as a profession," he said. "Singing is something I've secretly always wanted to do. I always knew of dancing so I had to work hard to step outside that box. I've worked with some incredible music producers and want to continue that.

Lonsdale hasn't forgotten his roots and returns home regularly to visit family and teach dance workshops.

"There is so much talent in western Sydney," he said.

"I been watching the new season of The Voice and I've seen three people on the show who I grew up with.

He had this advice for aspiring performers: "Never doubt yourself. If you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything you want. There's always a way."
