First the Hawkesbury, now the Zone, next: Sydney Royal Easter Show?
Kristen Troy our 2014Hawkesbury Showgirl has claimed the Zone 2 Showgirl title, proudly representing Hawkesbury District Agricultural
Association and the Hawkesbury in the 2014 The Land Showgirl Competition.
On Saturday, March 15, Ms Troy captivated judges with her dignity and poise.
Judges were vice-president of the Agricultural Shows Society of NSW David Peters, The Land’s Robyn Ainsworth and 2012 Sydney Royal Easter Showgirl Jasmine Nixon.
“Knowledgeable and gracious with such a dignified manner,” is how Mr Peters summed up Kristen’s winning form throughout the day of judging.
After facing the panel of judges, and attending a formal luncheon and a presentation evening involving public speaking, Ms Ainsworth said Kristen was the “complete package’’.
When asked what had impressed him with the young women at this year’s Zone 2 final and if the Showgirl movement was still relevant today, Mr Peters said the quality of the entrants showed its relevance.
‘‘More and more driven and intelligent young women, like the ones we have met here today, are entering the competition every year and are reaping the benefits from the experience that Showgirl has to offer,’’ he said.
The Zone 2 final comprised young women from show societies from as far north as St Ives to as far south as Milton. Each had been selected based on confidence, ambitions and goals and general knowledge.
After Ms Troy, Mikhaela Grey of Berry Show Society was named as the second finalist for Zone 2.
Both women now head to Sydney Royal Easter Show in April for the state round.
