He's got a cheeky smile, but also spinal muscular atrophy, so Blake Hayes is the reason for the First Annual BJ Hayes Car and Bike Cruise and Show, from Penrith to South Windsor this Sunday, April 13.
Blake’s aunty and uncle are Pauline and Michael Gatt of South Windsor, who have organised the fun car and bike cruise and show to raise money for Blake’s family to fix the van they transport Blake in.
Cars and bikes entering on the day should assemble at Penrith Leagues Club before 10am, when the cavalcade will take off. Gates open at 8am for those who want to socialise early.
The cruise will go along Mulgoa Road, onto Castlereagh Road, right onto Windsor Street in Richmond, right onto Macquarie Street at Windsor, and left onto Drummond Street at South Windsor to arrive in the carpark at Bligh Park Tavern.
However if you just want to enter the car show, you can just turn up in your shiny machine at the tavern.
‘‘From 11am when all the vehicles arrive it will be a car and bike show, with trophies,’’ Pauline said. ‘‘We’ll have Best Holden, Best Ford, Best Ute, Best Hot Rod, Best Custom, Best Street Car, Best Import, Best Bike as well as People’s Choice and Blake’s Choice.’’
Entry is $20 for cars, $15 for bikes, and gold coin donation for spectators.
‘‘We’ll also have a sausage sizzle, jumping castle, raffles, an auction, a live DJ and entertainment in the tavern,’’ Pauline said.
