Victory to Rangers

Victory to Rangers

Mt Druitt Rangers fought off a plucky 10-man Hills Brumbies 2-1 on Saturday night to claim their first victory of the Men's No.2 soccer 2014 season. The Brumbies remain winless after three matches. Goals to Glenn McPherson and Thomas Spencer for the hosts, either side of Eros Bergmin's crafty finish earned the win, but the Brumbies would feel things could have been different if not for a penalty miss and red card shortly before the interval. The potential game-changer came on 43 minutes when Kuag Reec was adjudged to have gone in studs up on Rangers' Luke Boyd. The Brumbies will host Fraser Park at 7.30pm at Lily Homes Stadium this Saturday.

Giants beat Demons

Greater Western Sydney Giants have made the AFL top eight after three rounds with two wins.

The Leon Cameron-coached team now prepare for the round four clash against the Western Bulldogs at Startrack Oval, Canberra, on Saturday.

In round three, the Giants toppled Melbourne Demons 10.19 (79) to 7.5 (47) at Spotless Stadium on Sunday.

The Giants are sixth on eight points. Cameron was full of praise for his team's gritty win.

"The good thing about the game is that, when Melbourne came at us at the back-end of the third quarter, for them to get in front and us to respond, I thought was fantastic and helped us in playing a dominant last quarter," he said.
