THEY were ordinary school boys who played sport on the weekend and their instruments in their spare time but now, two years later, 5 Seconds of Summer are the world’s new One Direction.
After their new single ‘She Looks So Perfect’, reached number one in 35 countries at the start of March, their newly released EP, that was out on shelves and iTunes on Friday, March 21, also topped the Aussie iTunes charts by 9am Friday morning.
Two weeks on and 5SOS’s album reached number one in the UK and New Zealand.
But that wasn’t the only exciting news the boys shared with their Aussie fans last week. 5SOS announced they will be returning to the Aussie shores in early May, in-between their European and North American tour, to perform shows for their dedicated fans.
‘‘It’s going to be high energy with a party vibe and an over all good time,’’ lead singer Luke Hemmings said.
While Michael Clifford said the shows are going to be like no other.
‘‘It’s going to be amazing. It is a new show from when we were there last time. It’s going to be sweet,’’ Michael said.
Tickets for their two-night Sydney show went on sale last Friday, March 28 9am and sold out within one minute, beating all current ticket selling records for the band so far.
