The Gazette can report a team from Richmond RAAF Base worked in the overnight operation off the West Australian coast in the international search for the missing plane.
The 37th squadron aboard a Hercules C-130J aircraft dropped two data marker buoys in the Indian Ocean to monitor currents and track any movement.
"The bouys will hopefully track any debris," Assistant Regional Manager Public Affairs, Ben Wickham said.
The operation continues.
Malaysian Airline Flight 370 went missing almost two weeks ago.
It is understood 239 people were on board when it disappeared during a night flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
