Girl 'doing well' after near drowning

Police say a six-year-old girl who nearly drowned at Winston Hills on Friday is doing well.

‘‘She’s expected to make a full recovery,’’ a police spokesman told the News yesterday.

CareFlight attended her home in Rudyard Street shortly after 5pm Friday following initial reports she was unconscious.

Family members told the CareFlight doctor they found the girl floating face down in the backyard swimming pool and dragged her out in a semi-conscious state.

The doctor said the girl’s breathing quickly restarted and she was treated at home before being taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

She was in a serious but stable condition on arrival, a CareFlight spokesman said.
