Rocking on: The Delltones have no thoughts of retiring from the music industry.

KEEP "raging and stop the ageing" is the motto of rockers The Delltones whose energetic, toe-tapping beats have forged them a musical identity that will long be remembered and revered.

And the rockers hope to hit the right notes when they perform their chart-topping songs at Rooty Hill RSL on Friday, February 21, at 8pm.

"We have nothing new, just the same stuff that we have been performing for 56 years," founding band member Ian "Peewee" Wilson said.

"They can expect the very affectionate performance for which we are known."

The Delltones were told back in 1958 not to give up their day jobs, as their music wasn't going to last — 56 years later they are still delighting audiences.

"I think one of the main reasons we have stuck around is that we enjoy what we do," Wilson said.

"Another reason is that our audiences enjoy our live performances.

"We won't stop performing until people stop coming to the shows."

The Delltones' fan base is very different from what it once was, now ranging from kids to older fans.

"I think the young kids are interested in our type of music," Wilson said.

"Sometimes they are dragged to our show by their parents and you can see on their faces that they don't want to be here.

"But once we start to perform, you can tell they are enjoying the music.

"Many of our other fans have come from the '80s and '90s when we used to perform on shows such as Hey Hey It's Saturday."

With band members aged in their 50s, 60s and 70s, one can see why the retirement question is on some people's minds.

But Wilson said they won't stop until their fans say so.
