Carlingford woman charged over child's death

A Carlingford woman will appear in court charged with negligent driving causing death and other charges in relation to the death of a little boy outside Carlingford Public School in December.

About 9.20am on December 18, a woman was walking her six-year-old son and two nieces along Rickard Street when they were hit by the female driver, 46, in a Nissan Dualis.

The woman, her son, and one of her nieces were hit. 

The boy, who was in Australia on holiday from Malaysia, died at the scene.

The 38-year-old woman was taken to Westmead Hospital with non life-threatening injuries and her four-year-old niece was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, with a fractured pelvis.

The other girl was not injured.

The driver was taken to hospital suffering shock and the two young children in the car with her were uninjured.

On Tuesday, (February 11), she was issued a Court Attendance Notice for negligent driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

She will appear at Burwood Local Court on May 7.
