The rising star from West Pennant Hills has already snagged leading roles in major productions including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Addams Family — The Broadway Musical.

Now he has landed the role of Jason in Falsettos as part of the 2014 Sydney Mardi Gras.

The production, with music and lyrics by William Finn, based on a book by Finn and James Lapine tells the story of a man who leaves his wife for his male lover.

To add to the scandal, the ex-wife and the family psychiatrist are now a couple.

Anthony said it made for a perfect comedy.

"It's really funny," he said. "It's nothing that you have seen before. There is just so much humour."

The 13-year-old said the character of Jason was his most challenging.

"It's a hard role to tackle," Anthony said. "This role has higher notes to tackle, unlike other previous performances. It's pretty full on."

Before The McDonald College student wowed audiences on stage with his big voice, he trained 38-hours a week as a gymnast.

To add to his busy schedule, he also learnt to dance.

‘‘My mum always said that I was a dancer,’’ Anthony said.

‘‘Even when I was in her tummy she said I danced.’’

He then pursued a career in acting and started acting lessons.

"I love the challenge that musical theatre gives me and I love the feeling of being on stage," he said.
