Teenager assaulted at school

A 16-year-old boy who’d been kicked and punched in the head at Castle Hill High a week ago was well enough to be interviewed by police on Wednesday.

Police say the boy from Castle Hill, who also attends the school, received treatment for minor fractures and swelling to his right eye after allegedly being kicked and punched in the head by a fellow student, 15, from Castle Hill, about 1.30pm on January 30.

The offender attended Castle Hill police station with his mother after the incident, where he was arrested.

He will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act in a juvenile conference.


Mail boxes broken into

Three Australia Post mail boxes were broken into in The Hills last month.

They were located on Jasper Road, Baulkham Hills; The Parkway, Beaumont Hills; and Kleins Road, Northmead.

Police say no mail was stolen but each lock cost between $300 and $400 to replace.

Fire at restaurant

Police attended a small fire at Castle Taj restaurant on Sunday.

A police spokesman said the restaurant owner extinguished the fire at the Terminus Street premises shortly after 2.46am.

A glass partition, tables, chairs and tablecloths were destroyed.

There was also ceiling damage, but no structural damage.

Police also attended a small fire in nearby Orange Grove around the same time.

Three homes broken into

Three homes were broken into in The Hills this week.

A camera, jewellery, cash, credit cards and personal belongings — including Swiss francs — were stolen from a home in Seven Hills Road, Baulkham Hills, between 7.30am and 5.30pm Tuesday.

The back window was smashed to gain entry.

A female neighbour said she saw a blue car ‘‘acting suspiciously’’ near the house about 1.30pm.

Also in Baulkham Hills, two laptops, DVDs, a PlayStation and video camera were stolen from a home in Dobson Crescent, between 7.30am and 5.30pm Tuesday.

In Adam Place, Glenhaven, a male occupant reported an attempted break and enter to police on Wednesday, after discovering ‘‘a muddied footprint’’, drink bottle and cigarette butts near the back door.

Nothing appears to have been stolen but the door was damaged.
