A female police officer had to be treated in hospital after her breast was injured during an assault by a drunken man resisting arrest in south west Sydney on Friday.
David Anthony Kaluhin was charged with three counts of assaulting police, indecently assault and attempting to drink drive following the incident which occurred at about 10.30pm.
The 32-year-old Georges Hall man was denied bail at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
Police allege he was leaving the High Flyer Hotel on Birch Street, Condell Park when police noticed that he was intoxicated and was about to drive a car.
The police fact sheet said officers approached the vehicle and spoke to Mr Kaluhin who became aggressive towards them and then assaulted the female officer by grabbing her left breast and "twisting and squeezing it, causing her considerable pain".
Police allege the female officer then punched Mr Kaluhin but he continued to assault her, causing her to fall.
Other officers tried to subdue him, but he violently resisted them too, spitting and kicking at them.
A male officer also sustained cuts to his left hand in the struggle.
The fact sheet said it took four officers to restrain Mr Kaluhin and he had to be sprayed with pepper spray.
The injured police officers were taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment and have seen been released.
When Mr Kaluhin was breath tested after the scuffle he was found to have a blood alcohol reading of 0.111.
Mr Kaluhin is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court on January 6.
