Men charged after kidnapping and extortion attempt

Ku-ring-gai detectives have charged two men with the alleged kidnapping and extortion of a Glenorie man.

On January 3, it’s alleged a 31-year-old man discovered a cannabis hydroponic system set up in his Glenorie home.

The temporary fixture was allegedly built by a tenant leasing a bedroom in the house.

The home owner objected to the hydroponic set-up and two days later he was tied up and detained by two men in his house.

Police said the victim was threatened with a knife and robbed of some personal possessions.

He later attended Hornsby police station where he reported the incident.

Last Thursday police arrested two men aged 39 and 34.

They were charged with aggravated kidnapping and demand money with intent to steal in company.

Both men were refused bail and appeared in Hornsby Local Court last Friday.

Teenage girl approached

Police are appealing for information after a schoolgirl was approached in West Pennant Hills last month.

It’s alleged a man aged in his 60s made several inappropriate sexual requests to a 15-year-old girl on January 7.

Police said the man approached the girl and spoke to her at a bus-stop on Taylor Road at 10.52am.

The girl boarded a bus and reported the incident to police.

At the time of the incident the man was wearing a baggy T-shirt and cream coloured shorts. 

Drug possession 

An 18-year-old woman was charged with drug possession after police found her carrying 27 grams of cannabis.

Police said they stopped the Baulkham Hills woman along with another younger male after they were seen acting suspiciously on Windsor Road, Northmead.

She was taken to Castle Hill Police station but declined to be interviewed.

She will appear in Parramatta local Court on February 20.

Egg throwing attack

Police are appealing for residents who witnessed an egg throwing attack on a woman last Wednesday to contact Crime Stoppers.

A 42-year-old woman was struck in the head by an egg on Baulkham Hills Road at 8.30pm.

She suffered bruising and swelling from the incident.

The offenders were last seen leaving the street in a small red car.

Machete stolen from car

A machete blade was stolen from a car in Baulkham Hills last Wednesday.

It’s believed a thief forced entry to the Toyota Hilux utility which was parked on Francisco Close sometime between 10pm and 8.45am.

Police said the $70 blade was used by the owner in his work as a surveyor.

Speeding drink driver

A Carlingford man was clocked driving at 52km/h over the speed limit on the M2 last Wednesday.

Police clocked the 24-year-old driving at 122km/h in a 70km speed zone.

He had his licence suspended on the spot after blowing a mid-range blood alcohol reading of 0.105.

He will appear in Parramatta Local Court later this month.
