HAWKESBURY Triathlon Club members performed strongly at the Huskisson Triathlon on the weekend, with eight athletes recording top 10 finishes and two climbing onto the podium in their respective age groups.
Greg Douglass was the club's leading performer, clocking 4:32:02 to finish third in the men's 50-54 age group in Sunday's long course event, while the other podium went to Mick Ferris, who was third in the men's 40-44 sprint on Saturday and 12th overall in an outstanding time of 1:04:21.
On what started as a calm and warm day but finished up as very hot conditions for the nine locals on Sunday, Greg Burford was the fastest of them as he overcame a foot injury to clock 4:28:04 and finish 11th in the 40-44 men, while Andrew Heath, in only his second event, had a great time of 4:47:12 and 32nd in the same race.
Michael Mahboub again shaved his best time with an impressive 4:50:53 to be 60th in the 30-34 men, the versatile John Miller produced a great time of 5:00:26 to finish fifth in the 55-59 men and Jen Hoffman took more than six minutes off her time from last year to rank eighth in the 40-44 women's in 5:04.32.
