TENNIS is a sport that rewards its superstars extremely well.
Understandably so, it is hard to make it to that level, but Londonderry teenager Brooke Hardy appears to have the talent to make a good fist of it.
Hardy, 15, has enjoyed a golden three months as she builds her profile.
Despite having ankle and shoulder injuries that forced her out of the highly-rated Gallipoli Cup in Melbourne in April that she was planning to use to earn herself a world ranking, Hardy bounced back at national school level.
Her interrupted preparation was no hindrance as she played a key role in helping NSW win the prestigious Pizzey Cup All Schools National Championship in Hobart in May.
Hardy won nine of her 10 matches in the tournament, and with NSW beating Victoria in a countback on the final day, it was a crucial record in the result.
Hardy's performance at the national level, which has helped lift her Australian ranking to 171 and NSW ranking to 58, also resulted in her winning the May nomination for the Hawkesbury Gazette-Richmond Club's Hawkesbury Sportsperson of the Year award.
