OUTSTANDING Swimwest talent Emily Racki has picked up where she left off in 2009 by romping to victory in the 50m freestyle at the NSW Age Championships at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre earlier this month.
After being the fastest qualifier in a State record 30.05s, Racki became the first swimmer to break 30 seconds in the under 10 girls 50m freestyle when she stopped the clock at 29.99 in the final.
It capped a remarkable carnival for the Kurrajong youngster, who also won silver medals in the 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley and a bronze in the 100m backstroke, while she also stepped up an age group to 11&U in the 200m freestyle and came 15th out of 32 competitors.
Racki's 100m freestyle (1:06.67) and 100m breaststroke (1:29.28) times were also personal bests.
Swimwest had 11 swimmers at the State championships in a strong showing by the club, with PBs coming from Caitlin Oehm in the 15yr girls 50m free, 100m back and 100m fly, Keely Oehm in the 13yr girls 50m free, Harry Thomas in the 9-10yr boys 50m free, 100m free and 100m back, Amy Barry in the 10&U girls 50m free and the 10&U 4x50m freestyle relay teams of Josh Head, Bailey Campbell, Ryan Bowman and Thomas (boys) and Jessica Grant, Erine Concepion, Gem- ma-Lee Carter and Barry (girls).
Chris Teleki also swam well in the 12yr boys 50m free, just missing a PB of his own.
