MACKENZIE Tricker races with the best of them. Despite her age and participating in a male-dominated sport, Tricker is quickly emerging as one of the best young riders in motocross.
The 14-year-old girl from Vineyard plowed through wet and soggy conditions over the Easter weekend to take out the first round of the NSW Motocross Championship.
The trio of Tricker, Ben George and Brendon Walther completed the rain-shortened event with first, second and sixth places overall in their respective classes.
The track at Mt Kembla was transformed into a soft and heavy track drawing plenty of praise from the riders.
After a clear and sunny start, the weather closed in and the rain began to fall. What started as a great track, slowly deteriorated to a battle of survival with some of the biggest ruts the juniors had ever faced. The event was declared after two of the three rounds of racing due to the track conditions.
Tricker (Team Moto) showed that some determination and grit can go along way in the mud. Riding her YZ 250F to consistent finishes, she took a well-deserved 13/u15yrs 250cc 4stroke class victory in the tough conditions.
"The track was tough but fun at the same time," an excited Tricker said.
"I didn't get the best of starts in the first one but a holeshot in the second moto made life much easier in the muddy conditions. I just didn't give up in the mud and it got me the win."
Tricker who is a member of the NSW Yamaha Junior Development Team started riding when she was five.
It was only three years ago when the youngster decided to take the sport to a whole other level ? Tricker's competitive side soon became apparent.
"I always use to see other kids riding when I was little, and it has was always been something I wanted to do," she said.
Tricker is now working hard to compete in the second round of the championships in Port Macquarie on the June long weekend and feels confident she can hold her own against the guys.
" I like beating the boys, even though they hate it," she said.
