The 112km drag race between Brooklyn Bridge and Windsor Mar- ine Stadium will turn another page of great race history on Sunday, May 3, and the Gold Coast businessman believes he will again be at the pointy end of the field.

He won the race with breathtaking ease in 2007 and returned last year to make it a double.

"I cannot remember our boat being so strong and responsive, but the only gauge I never checked was fuel pressure and we cooked a motor less than 10km into the event," Truslove said.

"Everyone with a V8 superboat will tell you they have it won, but our Anglom Oil Mercury is turning out incredible power and I'm returning to Sydney for the B2B, not the Easter Show."

Last year the silver haired sportsman was the first person to enter for the world's toughest and longest powerboat race.

"We based our boat and crew at Castle Hill and came here weeks ahead of the race which gave us time to read the water at Brooklyn and know exactly what we needed to do," Truslove said.

The battle between the Gold Coast veteran and six time winner Ricky Howard, brother-in-law Paul Vella and Ford standout Darren Greentree should ensure a huge crowd along the river.

Howard's record-breaking victory last year stopped the clock at 29:47, the first man to roar between the Bridges in under 30 minutes.

Cyril Hall established the first Bridge record at 3h:25m in 1933 and Howard believes he can trim his new mark by another 15 seconds if conditions are ideal.
