THE Pitt Town Sports Cric- ket Club has received a boost to its attempts to strengthen its junior base after winning a $1750 grant from the Commonwealth Bank.

Awarded in the Grants for Grassroots program, the club was one of more than 200 Australiawide to benefit, receiving a cheque for $1000 to reduce costs for its junior teams and encourage greater participation from under 10s to 16s.

The Towners, who currently field teams in under 14s, 11s and 10s, with the first two qualifying for the finals, also received $750 of equipment, including a shade marquee, two market umbrellas, 200 water bottles and 50 field markers.

"We are proud that we can support the Club in this way," CBA Windsor branch manager Tony Ellery said.

"Cricket is popular in the area and the grant will provide great assistance to ensure local cricketers can continue to play the sport they love."
