WHILE the feedback from punters was good, the numbers just weren't there at the Sydney Blues Festival on the weekend.
The organisers were a little disappointed, but they are hoping next year will be bigger and better.
One of the promoters, Peter Fricker, said attendance may have been about 1000 but they were still doing the figures.
"Our numbers weren't as good as we wanted...but we had a lot saying it's the best festival they've been to in ages," Mr Fricker said.
He said one of the problems was accommodation, and an option for next year might be to set up a camp site.
Fellow promoter Bob Mannix said organising the venues so they are closer together might also be on the cards.
Most festival goers chose to stay in the top end of town near the Macquarie Arms and The Fitzroy Hotel, with some of the acts who were performing at the other end of town losing out on the crowds.
James Glendenning, who was responsible for booking the bands said he received positive feedback from the festival goers.
"Everyone I spoke to said they enjoyed the music and they had a great time," he said.
"I had punters coming up to me saying 'You have to do it again'."
While the numbers were not quite what they had anticipated, the weather also played a part in taming the crowds.
Rain on Sunday meant the markets in Windsor Mall were quiet , and most certainly put off some of the usual day trippers from Sydney.
Despite this, headlining acts like Chase the Sun still drew good crowds on Sunday afternoon, even if the fans were a little soggy.
Mr Fricker said next year's festival would hinge upon whether they can secure another big sponsor, without which it might not go ahead.
