Terri tackles Big Brother house

30 Apr, 2008 08:17 AM
The Hawkesbury has a housemate in the 2008 Big Brother house.

North Richmond’s Terri Munro ruffled feathers nationwide last week with her strong views – and that was just in the Channel 10 television commercials!

Ms Munro’s profile describes her as loving Pauline Hanson, oysters, and her grandson, while being an avowed atheist with a strong anti-drugs stance.

Daughter Roslyn White, 30, who lives in Glossodia, is certain her 52-year-old mum will surprise many people during her time in the Big Brother house.

“She’s loud and opinionated, and has strong views about politics and religion, but she doesn’t believe everyone should agree with her,” Mrs White said.

“A lot of people start out disliking mum because she is very upfront, but end up loving her because she’s so honest with people. She has a lot of long-time friends and usually gets on with everyone, so I don’t think she’ll have a problem in lasting the distance in the house.”

Ms Munro, who lives in North Richmond and has worked at Richmond Coles for 25 years, went into ‘lockdown’ on the Gold Coast 11 days ago before entering the Big Brother house on Monday night’s launch show.

Mrs White, who saw the television commercials for the first time last Thursday, said her mother had been labelled a racist on blogs and in the media, but she said they couldn’t be more wrong.

“Despite what people have been saying, she’s not racist, she takes people as they come and for who they are,” she said. “She’s got friends from all nationalities and all walks of life.”

Mrs White said it was the third time her mother had applied to be on Big Brother, now in its eighth year.

Mrs White said she and her brother James, 27, were very proud of their mum. “She worked so hard as a single mother raising us and working full-time, she deserves something for herself,” Mrs White said. “We do hope she wins, but most of all we hope she has a great time.”
