Sand sculpture photo judges make their pick

01 Feb, 2012 12:21 PM
OUR picture judges have been burying their heads in the sand.

Well, to be more precise, they’ve been busy poring over the hundreds of pictures submitted by our readers in the Best Reader Pix competition featuring images from the Hawkesbury International Sand Sculpting Champion-

ships. It’s been a hard task because all of the submitted pictures were excellent but we can now announce the winners.

In the serious category – for members of camera clubs or professional snappers – the winner is Grant Lamb of Richmond who will receive a $500 prize.

In the happy snapper group, the winner is Michelle Ward of Mount Annan who picks up $200. The commended happy snapper was 10-year-old Angus Lillie of Richmond.

In the happy snapper category, 155 images were submitted, while 61 images were in with a chance in the serious category.

The judges were the Gazette’s photographer, Kylie Pitt, and Alan Aldrich of Hawkesbury Camera Club. Winners will be contacted this week.
