PM Gillard visits Richmond

LABOR resorted to bringing out the big guns to the knife-edge seat of Macquarie yesterday, when Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard began her election campaign at Richmond High School.

It was there Ms Gillard, together with the Minister for Education Simon Crean, unveiled a national trade cadetship scheme, a program claiming to help school students move much more easily into apprenticeships.

While a press conference was held to discuss the details of the scheme should a Labor Government be re-elected, it wasn’t long before the focus shifted onto the upcoming August 21 election.
