ADVENTURE racing lovers be warned: the Paddy Pallin Adventure Race Series is back with new locations and new challenges.
The Paddy Pallin Adventure Race Series involves teams of three travelling a secret course together by mountain bike, kayak and on foot.
Participants are given maps before starting and have to find their way from checkpoint to checkpoint with the aim of having fun with friends.
Even though this year’s exact location is still kept a secret, it can be revealed that the event will take place in the Windsor region, at the foot of the Blue Mountains on Saturday, October 25, taking participants on a journey like no other.
The flat water kayaking included in the event will showcase some beautiful areas in the Hawkesbury/Blue Mountains region.
The mountain biking legs will also feature some grassy stretches designed to feel like you are riding through the Australian outback.
The foot orienteering sections will take teams through more bushland with participants using one of the best maps in the Sydney area.
Like most years, speed might not necessarily crown the winners of the Paddy Pallin Adventure Race, but rather smart planning and good navigation skills.
More than 500 people are expected to take part including many first-timers who will enter the novice course, a half-distance option which gives beginners the chance to taste adventure racing without getting overwhelmed by an event they have never taken part in before.
Corporates can also pit themselves against their nemesis in the new Corporate Challenge category.
Paralympian Michael Milton, one of Australia’s best-known skiers, will be taking on a new adventure with his Team Toyota (including his sister and Tony Bond).
Milton has eleven Paralympic medals and holds the fastest Australian skiing title at 213.65km/hour. Coming off the back of his cycling preparation from the recent Beijing Paralympics, and as part of his training to compete in future adventure races, Milton will be lining up at the start of the Paddy Pallin Adventure Race.
