Mercury drops, snow falls

20 Aug, 2008 05:00 AM
HAWKESBURY residents are rugging up as the last month of winter delivers chilling temperatures across the district.

Richmond recorded its coldest morning yesterday when the mercury fell to -2.9 degrees, making it nine mornings

out of the 19 days in August so far where the temperature has plummeted below freezing.

By comparison, our warmest morning in August was up almost eight degrees, when Wednesday, August 6 delivered a 4.4 degree start to the day. The average morning temperature for the past 19 days has been 0.9 degrees.

The first day in August gave us a sunny 22.2 degrees and was the top for the month so far, while Sunday and Monday, August 10 and 11 both recorded the lowest day time temperatures of 15.2 degrees.

For the week ahead, residents can expect a few showers developing with a windy 16C Friday, followed by clearing showers. More wild winds are forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
