Hawkesbury skies will once again play host to up to six RAAF fighter jets as they conduct training at RAAF Base Richmond next week.
Flying will occur between 8pm and 9.45pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, February 14-16.
During the exercise, F/A-18 Hornets from RAAF base Williamtown, near Newcastle, will practise diversion approaches to RAAF Base Richmond, including use of the instrument landing system. This allows pilots to land
at Richmond at night or in poor weather
conditions.
The flights are an essential part of pilot conversion training on the Hornet, as Richmond is the primary diversion airfield for RAAF Base Williamtown.
Residents should note that these dates and times are subject to change.
A defence spokesperson said noise reduction and the environment were vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military activity, and the Air Force apprec-iated the support it received from the Hawkesbury community during training activities such as this.
