Hawkesbury Races back for 2010

03 Feb, 2010 02:00 PM
IF YOU haven't already picked out your frock or swanky suit then you better get a wriggle on, because the first race day of the year is on tomorrow.

The Evergreen and Dad and Dave's Turf Charity Raceday is on at Clarendon Racecourse from 10.30am, and will be raising funds to help bring oncology treatment to the Hawkesbury.

Local oncology services are essential to help residents living with cancer, and will greatly reduce the amount they have to travel for treatment.

Last year's race day raised more than $43,000 for the cause, and this year the bar is set at $50,000.

To help achieve this target, Hawkesbury residents will really need to get behind the day and come along to enjoy all the action.

There will be a giant raffle featuring fantastic prizes including a plasma TV, designer glasses, Yalumba gift pack, Skin Fitness gift pack, a Kennards Hire voucher and much more.

There will also be plenty of raffle prizes in the corporate area, as well as a live auction.

Items up for grabs in the live auction include a 50 inch HD Plasma TV, accommodation for Four (twin share) at Cypress Lakes including a round of golf, two carts, $150 credit and breakfast both mornings; a Bulldogs signed 2009 jersey; a Ricky Ponting signed jersey; a 2009 signed Australian cricket jersey and a Norman Lindsay signed original sketch with authenticity.

If you're out and about on course you will also get to meet retired Australian cricket umpire Darrell Hair, who will be happy to autograph your brag book or cricket gear.

The gates open at 10.30am with raffle tickets on sale from 11am, and the first race at about 12.30pm.

This race day has been made possible by sponsors Evergreen Turf Vic, Dad and Dave's Turf, Vermont Sands, Hi Quality Turf,

Flemming Golf, CLS Invest- ment Services, Hydro Technics Irrigation and Living Turf.
